NOTICE TO PRINCETON UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY Please take notice that The Trustees of Princeton University has filed an application with the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, General Equity Part, Mercer County, New Jersey, seeking the modification or release of certain restrictions on gifts to Princeton University that may have become unlawful, impracticable, impossible to achieve, or wasteful. The Court is currently set to hear the matter on May 15, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., or at such other date and time set by the Court, by the Honorable Patrick J. Bartels, P.J. Ch., Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, General Equity Part, Mercer County, at the Mercer County Civil Court House, 175 South Broad Street, 3rd Floor, Trenton, New Jersey 08608. The following gift is the subject of this application: Name of Gift Proposed Change The Paul Guenther Student Loan Fund That the restriction in the gifts’ instruments establishing the Guenther Fund -- that the income be used for the purpose of making loans to “deserving” undergraduate students at Princeton -- be modified or released, so that the Fund’s income may be used for the following purposes and in the listed order of preference: i. first, consistent with the terms and implementation of the original gift, providing loans to “deserving” undergraduate Princeton students i.e., students in need of financial assistance; ii. second, to support undergraduate scholarships to assist Princeton students with financial need; and iii. third, when funds still remain, to support graduate fellowships to assist Princeton students with financial need.
